MODEL HISTORY

Produced between 2004 and 2013, the E9X was the fifth generation of BMW’s enduring 3 Series. The range comprised the E90 Saloon, E91 Touring, E92 Coupé and E93 Convertible, and marked the first time a production 3 Series was offered with a turbocharged petrol engine.

At the head of the regular petrol range sat the 335i, powered by BMW’s N54 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six. Producing 306bhp and 400Nm of torque, it combined the smoothness traditionally associated with BMW’s six-cylinder engines with effortless performance throughout the rev range.

The E9X generation was widely praised for balancing performance and practicality with restrained, elegant styling. Its N54 engine received similar acclaim, winning five consecutive International Engine of the Year category awards and appearing in Ward’s 10 Best Engines for three successive years. A more powerful development would later find its way into the celebrated BMW 1 Series M Coupé, further cementing the N54’s reputation as one of BMW’s great modern performance engines.

EXTERIOR

Finished in a wonderful coat of Montego Blue Metallic, this early 335i Coupé has an effortlessly cool and discreet presence. Factory specified in SE trim, it retains the clean lines, elegant brightwork and restrained styling of the original E92 design, while the optional 19-inch Star-Spoke alloy wheels lend it a purposeful edge.

Chrome window surrounds and bright kidney grilles provide a crisp contrast against the rich blue finish, with the rare Jade Grey Dakota Leather adding a light and elegant touch inside. The body remains free from unnecessary adornment, leaving only the twin exhaust outlets to hint at the performance beneath the surface.

The paintwork remains in great condition, retaining a deep and consistent shine with only light stone chips visible across the front bumper and bonnet. Its sole owner enjoyed the car regularly but cared for it exceptionally well, keeping it garaged from new before placing it into a private collection in 2017

INTERIOR

Upholstered in rare Jade Grey Dakota Leather, the cabin feels light and spacious, brushed aluminium trim flows across the dashboard, door cards and centre console, contrasting neatly with the black upper surfaces and emphasising the E92’s clean, driver-focused design.

The generous specification makes the cabin a comfortable and enjoyable place to spend time. Professional Navigation and enhanced Bluetooth functionality provide added convenience, while heated front seats and the HiFi loudspeaker system ensure occupants are well catered for on longer journeys.

Signs of wear are few and far between; the leather remains clean and supple, with only light creasing visible to the seat bolsters. The steering wheel, switchgear and aluminium trim have also been well preserved, leaving the cabin with an honest and carefully maintained appearance throughout.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

At the heart of the car lies BMW’s celebrated N54 3.0-litre straight-six, its twin turbochargers helping to produce 306bhp with smooth and seemingly effortless delivery. Paired with the six-speed automatic transmission and steering-wheel-mounted paddles, it provides refined progress in everyday driving while offering considerable performance when called upon.

The engine bay presents exceptionally well, remaining clean, complete and pleasingly original throughout. Servicing has been entrusted exclusively to BMW Cobham with its last service carried out at 49,923 miles on the 22nd July 2026.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

The optional 19-inch Star-Spoke alloy wheels give the car a purposeful stance and contrast beautifully with the Montego Blue paintwork. Finished in bright silver, they remain in excellent condition and are fitted with Bridgstone Potenza tyres all showing healthy tread.

Brake discs and pads all round show with plenty of depth left and no signs of lipping or corrosion.

HISTORY FILE

Purchased new from BMW Banstead in November 2006, this 335I has remained with its original owner ever since. Enjoyed regularly by its sole owner yet cared for with exceptional diligence, the car was garaged from new before entering a private collection in 2017.

Maintenance has been carried out exclusively by BMW Cobham, providing a full BMW main-dealer service history.
