MODEL HISTORY

The Porsche 911 is a two-door, 2+2 high performance and one of the most powerful sports cars made since 1963 by Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany.

It has a rear-mounted six cylinder boxer engineand all round independent suspension. It has undergone continuous development, though the basic concept has remained little changed, making it one of the oldest sports coupé nameplates still in production and 1,000 000 have now been built (as of May 2017).

The 991 is an entirely new platform, only the third platform since the original 911. The Carrera S features a 3.8-litre engine producing 400 hp. The 991 is the first 911 to use predominantly aluminum construction. This means that even though the car is larger than the outgoing model, it is still up to 50kg lighter. The reduced weight and increased power means that both the Carrera and Carrera S are appreciably faster than the previous models. The 0–60 mph time for the manual transmission cars are 4.3 seconds however when equipped with PDK the 991 models can accelerate from 0–60 mph in 4.1. With the optional sports chrono package, available in cars with the PDK transmission, the 991 Carrera S can accelerate from 0–60 mph in as little as in 3.9 seconds.

EXTERIOR

The deep Agate metallic paint work presents in wonderful condition and shows off a luscious metallic shimmer under our studio lights. Presentation is first class with typical areas such as mirrors and rear arches showing almost no signs of use; storage when not in use has clearly been a priority.

Trim surrounds and rubbers remain soft and supple, whilst headlights that are usually susceptible to clouding are clear and unmarked. The inner arches and underside are excellent with no damage or any signs of corrosion.

INTERIOR

This extensively spec’d 997 maintains that perfect Porsche balance of style and substance with a cabin swathed in leather and graced with plenty of tech. Sports Chrono, PAS plus and dynamic chassis control feature alongside fully electric heated seats, bluetooth and BOSE sound.

The comfort seats retain excellent integrity and show no abnormal signs of wear with stitching and contour in fine condition. Switchgear can often fall foul of grubby fingers and sharp nails although buttons and dials read crisp and clean.

The cabin here points to a careful and fastidious ownership history with PCM unit, gearbox tunnel and carpets all appreciably fresh and unmarked.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

The flat 6 is unmistakable Porsche on start up, purposeful yet civilised. The engine performs admirably with the incredible PDK ensuring maximum drivetrain compliance.

The extra 50hp of the S model really tells in the mid-range, more eager, urgent and can alter personality considerably from motorway cruising to B road blast.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

The 20 inch Classic Carrera wheels are in excellent condition; finished in sparkling silver and wrapped in a set of P Zeros; all of which show plenty of life remaining.

The tidy red calipers offer an elegant contrast against the deep grey bodywork, whilst the car performs very well on test pulling up quickly and smoothly with no signs of hard wear to the discs.
